The Australian Team Breaks New Ground as Healy Has One Peak Left to Climb.

It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the record chasers, are what's still available for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her debut and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock topped that previous effort is debatable.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was considerably tougher to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in training, it was a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from that point Healy was underway.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed Australia needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament need to hear.

In recent days a sense they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this triumph coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

During that phase they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have postponed plans to retire, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
